Last year (2013-14), some 4th grade moms created the MINI MINER'S MART and started selling goodies after school every Wednesday in an effort to raise money for 4th grade fieldtrips. With ever-increasing transportation costs, fieldtrips were being cancelled on a regular basis. There are so many great fieldtrips in 4th grade, especially those relating to the Gold Rush. We do not want our kids missing out on this rich local history.
This year, we have a whole new set of moms, and so the tradition continues. Long live 4th grade fieldtrips!
Besides purchasing the goodies, the Miner's Mart also needs donations of items to sell (such as chips, candies, cookies, goldfish, any small snacks that would sell for 50ยข), money to purchase these items, and volunteers to work the booth (Wednesdays, from about 2:45-3:15).
